Pipeworks Ninja vs Unicorn: The battle of the Titans

Whilst on my short weekend trip in Chicago during my birthday last year I had the opportunity to try a lot of great Mid-Western craft beer. The likes of Three Floyds Two Brothers Revolution Brewing and many more. It was a great trip overall and my return to the windy city will come again in May when I visit Chicago Craft Beer Week. I got my hands on a six pack of Three Floyds Zombie Dust (which wasn’t easy) and was almost on my way to the airport when I figured I could squeeze in another sixer. And I almost left without tasting this local Chicago gem. The whole foods cheese guy directed me towards some local IPAs, and he when he handed me this one, he told me “If you haven’t had this, you haven’t had great Chicago craft beer.” So I went with it. And I was not disappointed. And so Ninja vs Unicorn.

Ninja Vs Unicorn

Double IPA
Abv: 8%
IBU: 150

This is an amazing unfiltered DIPA from Pipeworks Brewing Co. The
unicorn hits you with the smooth hop profile and the ninja attacks you with the bitterness. Although it’s at 150 IBU which is fairly high, the bitterness doesnt linger on your palate. Rather it’s an enjoyable bitterness that fights with the hops, so essentially it really is Ninja vs Unicorn. After the fight is over it leaves a very smooth settling finish and your palate begs for more.
